March 30, 2020 at 7:52:46 PM MDT Hey guys, it's Jesse high performance. Earthworks time. You did guys quick little run-down and walkthrough of this commercial septic system that we're doing right here in rollinsville. Colorado are the Rocky Mountains just outside of Denver is for the stage Stop, which is an old historic building is really cool music venue. We got that the train tracks to run right there. Hopefully someday in the future where you get this train to stop and go right to Winter Park and is all this really know. Anyway, yes, I know but. I'm a show you guys what we're doing here. So right here, we're digging beechfield number to offset from the first one over here. You can see how they're all set.

Basically the two ends or are not parallel with each other and the reason being for that is because is because we have to be a hundred feet away from the well and the well is on the opposite corner of this big building here. And if you if you do is Swing radius with the tape measure. Basically, this is where we have to put these fields in order to make it all fit on this property in a in a good way. So. We have each and a half schedule 40 lateral pipes. We have three of them. We have holes drilled on three foot centers here with larvae Shields over the holes the orifice Shield basically prevent box from you know, sticking one of the points right in the hole and plug in that hole so that the war official the best way to keep rocks out of the hole. Over here, we have our flush out pipes.

So we've got all of our lateral pipes together and then we're going to we're bringing them all up to the surface and one traffic rated concrete Riser with our traffic rated. So this field here has passed final inspection from the from the inspector. So we're in the process of backfilling here. And what we're doing here is were basically building a layer cake and we've dug out five feet down like we've done in this other hole behind me and then we put down one foot of cr33 Congress and brought that up leveled then we put down 6 in of inch and a half washed crushed rock that's required to the it needs to be washed that it doesn't have the fines that are going in there and can clog up the filtration ability of the sand is down below.

So we did 6in of rock then we put in our pipes and now we're doing 60 Rock and then we're covering the whole thing with weed fabric. So we don't have any infiltration of fines from the top layers of the backfill going down into the Rock and. So that's what we're in the process of doing right now. We're going ahead and backfilling this and. Then we can go down over here and look at the rest of the field over here. So basically are definitely going to be coming from our our tank or tanks and all my things over here is basically our treatment facility and then we have this automatic Distributors also known as an ADV.

It's going to automatically distribute the effluent in between this field and this field and so these new fields are going to be handling the effluent full proportion ultimately and what time does that goes each field little bit more of a chance to rest and dry out and for the bio microbial activity to kind of keep up and catch up with the breakdown of the solid than any any biological material that might be going into this and it is filled, you know, that all gets broken down and these fields. Play last forever because of this alternating system and the sand and everything that we have in here. Got it if you want. Automatic bearing this in this Riser and bringing this up to the surface as well. We'll probably end up doing to these wretched and exposed. Right over here. We have our final thing is a 500 gallon pump tank at so basically this has this orenco pump this right here in the know. It's going to go and drop down into their these things are actually bomb-proof the last forever fantastic pump.

And we got all of our wiring in our conduit here and then we have our country Ronnie basically Advanced treatment from bio-microbics and what that what what's in here is basically. It's like a membrane or a bunch of. Plastic with ripples in it that allows the bacteria aerobic bacteria to live on those on that surface area and basically start breaking down the human waste and this is a blower as well as going to be injecting oxygen into this tank and so aerobic bacteria that's going to be breaking down. All of our our waste is is a happy and it is basically creating friendly environment for a brother bacteria and the biological material than your standard septic system, which is an anaerobic digestion tank and the word septic basically means an aerobic so most most.

Most septic tanks are anaerobic digestion. And so there's an advanced treatment thinks it's not actually by definition of septic tank. It's a it's an advanced treatment tank aerobic digester Justin tank. So that's why we have here over here. We have our second basic pump tank. So this is also known as a lift station and this is our first septic tank over here. So we have our two thousand gallon septic tank. It's going to be pumping into this so I can take it from here. We're going into our Advanced treatment tank. So. 3000 gallon tank is a 1000 gallon tank. That's a 3000 gallon tank. But over here and then we have a 500 gallon tank.

We have our 1000 gallon grease trap grease trap tank straps are not 1,000 gallons are close to 500 gallons. So this is a really big nice tank for basically being a grease trap. This is the only tank in the system is not traffic rated. So we're going to have to end up putting a couple of Boulders around these risers to keep traffic off of this little corner of the parking lot, which is fine cuz I love you. It is coming out. So we have our kitchen sewer that's going into the shop. And then we have our house to her that bypassing the grease trap and then these two these two tanks and the sewer line the sewer line after the street chapter 2 sewer lines tied together, and then they come into her or 2000 gallon tank. And we have all of our conduits in the ground ready for electrical and inspection. And we're good.

Potential Dangers of Septic Tank-Related Groundwater Contamination

Potential Dangers of Septic Tank-Related Groundwater Contamination

When you have a septic tank in Boulder Colorado, there is a chance that it could result in groundwater contamination if you do not keep up with routine maintenance and inspection. You want to know about the issues that could occur if the contents of your septic system were to creep into your groundwater. This is sure to keep you motivated to maintain your septic system maintenance schedule.

What Might Cause a Septic System to Contaminate the Ground Water?

When your Boulder County septic system is working as it should, the chance of contaminated groundwater is extremely low. Most people who maintain their system will never have to worry about this issue. Under normal circumstances, your system allows human waste to drain away at a rate that is harmless and slow. However, if there are problems with your septic system, this can result in the leakage of viruses, household chemicals, bacteria and other impurities. If these get into your groundwater, the result can be serious health issues.

Hepatitis

There are multiple types of hepatitis, but the A and B forms are possible when someone consumes contaminated drinking water. Both forms of hepatitis affect the liver and can range from mild to severe. With both types, you might experience symptoms, such as appetite loss, fever, fatigue and nausea and vomiting.

Norovirus

If someone has this virus and their feces go into your septic system, if this reaches your groundwater, you are at risk for this virus. Nausea and vomiting are the hallmarks of this infection and they can be quite severe for some people. You might also experience watery diarrhea, muscle pain, abdominal discomfort, malaise and fever. This infection is incredibly contagious and it can take several days to more than a week before you start getting relief from your symptoms.

Dysentery

This is not a condition you hear about often in the first world, but it is possible if you consume groundwater that is contaminated. This results from you ingesting Shigella bacillus. When you have this infection, you will almost always experience severe diarrhea and stomach cramping. It is also possible for the diarrhea to have blood or mucus in it. It can take a few days for the symptoms to resolve.

Blue Baby Syndrome

This is an illness that is the result of a baby consuming too many nitrates. If your septic system is contaminating your groundwater, one of the pollutants that you have to be aware of is nitrates because they can quickly accumulate and enter your drinking water at high levels. If a baby is affected by this condition, the hemoglobin is not able to sufficiently carry oxygen. Without prompt and proper treatment, death is possible.

You can see why it is so important to keep your Boulder County septic system in excellent condition. The results of consuming contaminated groundwater can be very dangerous for people. Of course, this could also have a negative impact on all living things on your property, including any pets and plants too.
